Map Migration

Use Map Migration to adjust an IL/CL Horizon to match a new model.

This operation performs ray tracing from a given horizon using an initial model, until the rays hit the surface, and tracing the rays backwards with a new model to obtain the new horizon.

Where is the Map migration operation?

Map Migration is found in the Map View, under the Operations tab (along with other horizon operations).

  1. Open the Map View.
  2. Expand the left panel and open the Operations tab.
  3. At Operation, select Map migration.

Configuring the Map migration operation

  1. In the navigation bar, select a depth horizon to migrate.
  2. If you a using a surface model other than z=0, select the From Surface option, and select your surface horizon.
  3. Select the original and new ray-tracing models.
  4. Select volumes depending on whether you are using an Isotropic, VTI or TTI modes.
  5. Specify a value for the halos. These control the extent that rays will be allowed to travel before being considered failed. The default of -1 means rays can travel to the edges of the ray-tracing models. A positive value of Xm will allow them to travel only Xm beyond the input horizon (and still never more than the ray-tracing models.)

Note: The advanced options contain internal defaults and should only be adjusted on advice from the DUG support team.
