Settings for Section Views

Display Settings provide control over the display and behaviour of a view. They include wells, annotations, intersections, scale and linked-window controls. 

To open the Display Settings window, right-click on any part of the view, and select Display settings > Configure.

Display tab

The Display tab contains the Comparison Slider option, Scale settings, Horizontal Padding, Vertical Padding, and other configurations affecting the view.

When a new view is opened in Insight, it is assigned a colour. This colour is used to highlight the location of this view in other windows.

  • The window icon matches the view colour.
  • Click the Colour box to change the colour.

View Panels (for Inline/Crossline view)

Use this setting to show only the Inline section or Crossline section or both in the IL/CL view.

Comparison Slider

Use this setting to compare a selected volume and the concurrent volume in the section view (See Using the Comparison Slider).

Scale settings

Scale settings
  1. Horizontal Padding: Select to add horizontal margins. Specify the size of the padding in pixels (0-100).
  2. Vertical Padding: Select to add vertical margins. Specify the size of the padding in pixels (0 - 100).
  3. Horizontal Scale: Set the ratio for the horizontal axes (IL and CL, or CMP). The values are in the preferred display unit (see  View > Preferences).
  4. For 3D Volume: Select the Lock inline and crossline scale checkbox to scale and zoom the IL/CL axes together.
  5. Vertical Scale: Set the ratio for the vertical axis (time or depth).
  6. Show Shotpoint instead of CMP axis, when available: Select to use the shotpoint values if available.
  7. Click the lock icon to lock the horizontal/vertical zoom scale. When locked, zooming or changing the scale for the view is disabled.

Annotations tab

Annotations are decorations drawn over a view. These include scale bars, colour bars, and markers for intersecting views and lines.

  1. Panel: Display and set the annotation's panel placement on the section view.
  2. Scale Bar: Display a scale bar. Select the position to place the scale bar in the view. The scale bar will use the preferred Display Unit defined in Control Panel > Tool > Preferences.
  3. Colour Bars: See Configuring Colour Bar Annotations for more details.
  4. Views and Intersections:
    • Navigation Markers: Display the red navigation lines (markers) showing the location of related views.
    • Intersecting lines: Display the locations of intersecting 2D, 3D and arblines.
    • Intersecting line labels:  Display and configure labels for the line intersections.

In some views, right-clicking the intersecting lines displays additional actions:

  • Open new views for 2D lines by right-clicking and selecting "New 2D view for...".
  • In a 2D view, switch to an intersecting line by right-clicking and selecting "Switch to...".

Headers tab

The headers graph displays trace headers and other information in a graph above a section view.

Links tab

Views with linked parameters automatically follow changes in other views. Clear the checkboxes for an independent view that does not follow any changes.

Wells tab

Customise the display of wells in the view using the Wells tab. Choose between using the settings in the Control Panel, or a custom display using a curve or templates for each view.

Interpretation tab

Toggle interpretation/s for the current view and all other views that have the interpretation/s linked to the current view.  

In order to see if a view has interpretation/s linked, go to the Links tab.

The list of interpretation/s can vary with different views. Select Show All Interpretation/s, which will select or clear all of the below available options or alternatively select or clear each one individually.  

  • Horizons
  • Faults
  • Polygons
  • Probes      

Alternatively, hotkeys are available:    

  • To toggle all types of interpretation: Ctrl+Shift+A     
  • To toggle only horizons: Ctrl+Shift+H     
  • To toggle only faults: Ctrl+Shift+F     
  • To toggle only polygons: Ctrl+Shift+P    
  • To toggle only probes: Ctrl+Shift+O     

 

Snapshots tab

 Use the Snapshots tab to manage snapshot settings for a window or view.

Process tab

Use the Process tab to apply processes to the current view.

Processes available in the Process tab of the Display Settings window are the same as regular processes, but some settings have been simplified to allow only a subset of options.

Note: Processes available in Display Settings require the license modules that would be used for the same process in the main Process tab of Insight. For example, the Band-pass filter process requires the Explorationist module.

  1. Enable processes: Select to activate the available processes.
  2. Select the process(es):
  • Band-pass filter: 

Whole trace high-, low- and band-pass filters. To perform just a high-pass, leave High pass and High stop fields empty. Similarly, leave Low pass and Low stop fields empty to perform a low pass.

  • Gain 

AGC: Arithmetic mean within a window. Window overlap is set to 50%, and both Lateral smoothing radius and Lateral smoothing trim are set to 0.

: t² gain applied over the entire volume. The bias is 0.

  • Linear moveout

  • Normal moveout 

Apply normal moveout correction. The following models are available:

  • Isotropic 2nd order
  • Isotropic 4th order
  • VTI

  • Phase rotate 

The Phase rotate process is identical to the regular phase rotate process. See Phase Rotation for details of the full process.

  • Trace shift 

The Trace shift process is identical to the regular trace shift process. See Trace Shift for details of the full process.

Overlay tab

The Overlay tab contains Horizontal grid lines options used to annotate vertical positions in the view.
