Views Overview

The View menu in the Control Panel allows you to open a wide variety of views in Insight to display your data (see View Menu and Displays).

The views that are created can be managed in the View tab. Additionally snapshots from within a view are saved and managed through the views tab. For more information, refer to Using Snapshots.

Create a New View

  1. In the Control Panel, open the View tab.
  2. At the tab header, click the Add icon > View, and select the desired view type.

Note: The availability of the different views depend on the data you have in the session. For example, if you do not have a gather volume loaded, the Gather View option will not be enabled in the View menu. Multiple windows of the same view can be opened to display different volumes/lines.

Define new view information

  1. In the Details Panel of a view, type a name for the new view in the Name field.
  2. You can also change the colour of the display.

Load a View

  1. In the Control Panel, open the View tab.
  2. Click the blue (+) icon and select Load Views already in the project.
  3. The Add views to Session window will be displayed.
  4. To search for a view by Name, Owner, Notes, or Label, enter text in the respective boxes.
  5. Select one or more views (CTRL + view or SHIFT + view).
  6. Click Add to Session.

Display a View

  1. Select one or multiple views.
  2. Right-click, and select Show.
  3. Alternatively, you can double-click a view or click the green/amber circle beside the view to either show/hide the view. For more information, refer to Activating/Deactivating Items.

Configure a View

  1. In the Control Panel, open the View tab.
  2. Right-click on a view, and select Configure.
  3. The Display Settings window will be displayed for the selected view. You can configure the display settings for the view in the Display Settings window.

Note: You can use Snapshots to capture the settings for a window or view, which can be used to recall useful, or hard-to-configure views in Insight. For more information, refer to Using Snapshots.
