Volume No-Decrease removes decreasing values from a volume (typically a velocity model) as the time/depth increases. A horizon can be specified as a shallow bound for the correction. The process will be applied to the entire volume if no horizon is defined.

Tip: When using a velocity volume, if the volume is in another class, you should first convert the velocity volume to interval velocity using the Velocity Conversion process (see Velocity Conversion). You can then use the converted velocity in the Volume No-Decrease process.

Create a Volume No-Decrease process

Create a velocity no-decrease process
  1. In the Control Panel, open the Process tab.
  2. At the tab header, click the Add icon and select New Process.
  3. Double-click Volume No-Decrease.
  4. Type a name for the process, and click OK.

Define the Volume No-Decrease settings

Define the velocity no-decrease settings
  1. In the Details Panel, select a Volume.
  2. Select a constant value or a horizon at Top Horizon to process the volume below. If a horizon has been selected, a constant value can be inserted to offset the horizon. If not provided, the entire volume will be processed.

As a result of this process, a new volume of the same class is available in the Volume tab.

The following examples show a velocity volume before and after the Volume No-Decrease process is applied below a horizon.
