Operating Systems and Storage Drive Format

DUG-Insight projects require both read and write access to the file system. If your project is stored externally, make sure that your operating system is compatible with the storage file system. You can check the format of your drive in the Properties menu.

MacOS and some Linux systems are not write-compatible with the popular Windows NTFS format; if you need to share a project between Mac and Windows or Linux users, a drive using FAT32 or exFAT formats is compatible with all three operating systems.

While it is possible to set up your Mac to read and write to an NTFS file system using third-party applications, you should use caution and we recommend backing up your data first. For more information on drive formats and operating system compatibility, please seek advice from your IT department.
